Resources and Links
Help! I need to homeschool NOW!
1. Go to your favorite search engine and search the name of the school district your child is currently enrolled in plus the word “homeschool.” Click on the link to your school district’s page about homeschooling. There you should find details about what you need to submit to start homeschooling ASAP. You can also check here on the HSLDA website, but some of their information is inaccurate, so double check with your district and don’t sign up for a membership!!
2. A great free complete curriculum for middle school is available here: At Home Middle School
This will give you a great start to homeschooling your middle schooler if it’s a real emergency.
For high school, Khan Academy has free curriculum that will get you started.
Please keep in mind that if you are pulling your kid from school on an emergency basis, they’re probably going to be a little dysregulated, and will need time to decompress from whatever situation they’re escaping. Let them breathe for a bit, then jump in. And reach out if you need help.
